Joanna Cebrat reports on her Dukinfield open 50 mile Time Trial (part of the TT Cheshire League), which took place on the 15th of June on an alternative course, J4/9, as the original course was affected by the roadworks.
The weather was rather brutal that day so it wasn’t certain whether the organiser would take the risk of letting 100 riders race against the clock on flooded Cheshire roads. Fortunately the rain stopped in the afternoon and the course was reported to be safe. It was still very windy but dry. Unfortunately quite a few riders pulled out of the event including our club member Mark Jackson. Lots of people complained in the HQs about the changeable wind that made the 50 miles rather challenging for most.
Despite struggling with an injury Joanna finished 2nd (lady) clocking 2h 11 min 34 sec which is her new PB by over 2 min on this distance. Danny Glynn finished 28th with a good time 2h 10 min 16 sec. According to CTT website he rode this distance for the 1st time. Good training for our next weekend’s BAR 50TT in Keswick. Hopefully the weather will be kind(er) !
