Seven Bury riders raced in the National Clarion 10-mile TT last Saturday at Garstang. A cold-wind kept average speeds down, yet Nick Hall and Andy Horner still kept form with their sub-25-minute times of 23mins 37secs and 24mins 48secs respectively, placing Hall joint 1st with Duncan Mclaren of Stockport Clarion, whilst Horner acheived 3rd place. Nigel Clayton, recently returning to the TT scene, posted 26mins 47secs, whilst Steve Side, riding his first TT, slid under the 30-minute mark with 29mins 2secs. Other Bury riders in order of finish were: Phillip Ball 29:20, Dave Woods 30:36 and John Yates 30:49
Nick Hall also competed in the LVRC road race at Lindale, Grange-over-Sands, on Sunday. Faced with a undulating 48-mile the Bury rider finished in 5th place after missing the vital breakaway.
