Simon Yates won the prestigious Twinings Pro Am Tour near Salisbury at the weekend. The event, part of the Premier Calendar Series was won in spectacular style by the Bury teenager when he crossed the line ahead of Richard Handley of Team Raleigh, and seconds before the lead break. The race encompasses four 17-mile circuits of Wilton’s market square.

Nick Hall returned to the competition scene after his recent summer holiday, finishing Southport CC’s 10-mile TT at Tarleton in 3rd place with a season’s best time of 22mins 38secs. Andy Horner was placed joint 6th with  23mins 28secs.

Nick was back in action at Cycling Development Northwest’s 50-mile road race in Bickerstaffe. In horrendous weather conditions, the Bury-rider completed the course in under 2-hrs and finished 12th out of 40.

Meanwhile Andy Horner teamed up with National Clarion Secretary, Ian Clarke, last week for the North Notts Olympic Tandem 10-mile TT. The pair finished in 21mins 4secs.

Andy finished off his week of 10-mile time trials with Rossendale Road Club’s hilly 10, posting 25mins 27secs.
