The Yates twins produced some powerful racing at the last Revolution Race Series. The Manchester Velodrome event saw Simon going head to head with Ben Swift, of Tour Of Britain fame, where after a valiant battle the Bury rider conceded to Swift, finishing 2nd in the scratch race. Simon was back in the saddle later for the 3-man Madison along with his twin brother, Adam, and German rider Leif Lampeter. After a superb start and a gripping finish, the trio finished in 2nd place.
Simon has now been taken under the wing of international star, Chris Newton, who is to coach the 18-year-old after he was cherry-picked to join the prestigious Olympic Academy.
Meanwhile Adam was back at the Manchester Velodrome last week for the Premier Division Track League, where in both the 40-lap scratch race and The Devil Takes The Hindmost, he finished just 4-places behind Olympic gold medallist, Ed Clancy, who won both races. In the 50-lap points race Adam posted 6th place, whilst the 10-mile event saw the teenager creep back up a place to win 5th.
John Yates, raced again at the Manchester Regional Track League last week, winning the 16-lap scratch race, and finishing 6th in the 16-lap points race.
