THE EVENT: Despite the weather we had an enjoyable evening competing or socialising. Congratulations to prizewinners and those who did personal bests. For the others we hope you had an enjoyable evening at this 16th event on Lumb Carr Rd. Thanks to all those who helped in particular Roger Winstanley who does such a splendid job as timekeeper. Also thanks to our hosts at The Hare & Hounds. Usually the event is held during Cycling week but this year we changed so that we could be part of Bury’s  ‘Be Part of it’ celebrations of this Olympic year. Bury Members Group of The co-operative financed the prizes and the special ‘Olympic Year’ medals were paid for by a grant from Bury North Sports Forum.

Matt Pearce came all the way from Scotland and 6 others came from outside the Gtr Manchester conurbation.

The Fairtrade element of the evening is our contribution to Bury’s endeavours to increase the awareness of the issue of peoples of the third world being price exploited for the products we purchase from them.

BURY CLARION Offers an All Rounder championship based on a points system and individual championships on track and road. As a section of the National Clarion Cycling club we have national competition to participate in and weekends away to enjoy.
