We are very pleased to announce that Bury Clarion has now become a British
Cycling registered “go-Ride” club.
Over the last few years our membership has grown considerably and now stands
at around 110. However, this is almost exclusively adult members and for some
time the committee has been aware that we have lacked the personnel and
support for junior cyclists and members.
The “go-ride” scheme ensures that junior cyclists can receive expert support and
coaching in a safe and friendly environment from qualified coaches. We have
teamed up with Dave Lawson, a British Cycling level 3 coach to start “go-ride”
coaching on a weekly basis beginning on Friday 4th September from 4 till 5pm.
The sessions will be held at St Paul’s Junior School, Huntley Mount Rd, Bury BL9
6LJ and initially will be for junior school age groups only. It is our intention,
however, to set up similar sessions for High School Pupils in due course.
The first 2 sessions will be free of charge as a taster – after that there will be a
small charge to cover the costs for the coach and equipment.
This is an ideal opportunity to get your sons/daughters, grandchildren, children
of neighbours or friends into our wonderful sport – the sessions are not limited
to members or relatives of members of the club so please pass the word around
and invite anyone who you think may be interested. The only requirement is a
functioning bike (doesn’t matter at this stage what type) and a helmet plus a
heap of enthusiasm.
Places will be limited to 20 and we would ask that you please register your
interest either by email , firstname.lastname@example.org or by phoning Nick Hall
