Rides as follow for January! Happy New Year!
All rides open to everyone, male and female.
Saturday rides start at 9am at Ainsworth Arms, Sunday 9/10am at Barista, the Rock. All 30 miles Pace varies between ride leaders but anyone attending would be catered for. Around 10-13mph average. Routes posted on Facebook that week.
Saturday 27th December- Ros
Saturday 6th December-Ros
Sunday 7th January-Lucy
Great Christmas Ride to the Drop Off café on 23rd Dec, not a bad turnout as the weather was pretty poor! December has been quiet for rides due to the periodic ice and snow, plus non cycling injuries!
A few of the women have suffered icy slips and falls so be careful out there!
The decision to cancel a ride is taken by the ride leader, usually on the morning or on occasion the night before. This will be posted on Facebook and Team App.
The club meeting is on 24th January. We have 10 ride leaders currently, 2 new ones in Adele Vanderkamp and Lisa Greenwood. If anyone else wants to chip in putting on rides then contact me firstname.lastname@example.org. Ride leaders don’t have to be brilliant or fast cyclists! Just enthusiastic, reasonably experienced and committed, with route planning skills and confidence in leading a group for a minimum of 30 miles. There are free courses available. Let me know by 24th and can add you to the club list.
The other event coming up is the awards night on 2nd Feb at Elton Liberal Club. be great to see a few women there to support the awards, which is a joint venture with Bolton Clarion. Dress is casual, always good to have a chance to sneak a quick social drink in after all.
Don’t forget the other cycling opportunities for us ladies in Manchester. there are regular track skills nights and beginners sessions at the Velodrome.
Joanna has been attending and British Cycling Coach Danielle Riley has secured funding for more this year. Once I get dates I will see if a few of us can head down there for some practice.
See you soon
