Last weekend Team Bury drove up North to test some of the Garstang TT courses. Me and Gavin took part in 10 mile TT on L101 on Saturday evening organised by Chorley CC. Gavin had a really good ride and clocked 22:10 which gave him a very good 7th place. I stopped the clock on 25:02 (5th lady on the day) which I was not happy about but I did not know the course at all so I tend to take a “conservative” approach. It is a good, simple course though (not flat) and I would like to be back on it at some point. I recommend to all who tend to get lost on over complicated TT courses (no members tagged here).

On Sunday morning me and Ken got back to Winmarleigh to take part in Eddie Leece Memorial Open 25 Mile TT on L2525 course. We did a recce of this course last Thursday and although the roads are nice your time depends a lot on how lucky you are with a traffic. We both were unlucky on the bigger junctions – one was a right turn into a busy A road which was dangerous in my view. I personally don’t take chances. I also got stuck behind a motorhome in Eccleston village which as got a very narrow road with parking either side. So no PBs for neither of us but time trial is always a good training. Joanna 1:06:10 (3rd lady on the day)  closely followed by Ken 1:06:19.

Next weekend (28th July) a few of usual suspects are heading down South for the National Clarion 25TT champs in Cheshire. Come and join us – racing or supporting! Sign in on the day. £5 for an hour(+) of pain – please go to the Club Events calendar for the details

Just a quick note for all the beginner TT racers (such as me) – CTT changed rules on skinsuits / team kit – if you take part in CTT open events you should wear your club kit or plain kit with no sponsor logos. I was nearly disqualified on Saturday for wearing my bargain skinsuit! Also please note that full black skin suits are now on the CTT’s black list too…
