Simon Yates Survives Toughest Day

Bury ace Simon Yates has survived one of the toughest days of the Tour de France in recent history.

The Peloton navigated a 160km parcours including 13km of notorious Pave, normally only featured in the Paris-Roubaix Spring Classic. In a day marred by atrocious weather and multiple crashes, conditions couldn’t have been more difficult and the stage sadly saw the abandoning of the race by defending champion Chris Froome. Thankfully though, honorary Bury Clarion member Simon escaped the stage unscathed and without incident, finishing safely in the bunch after the day was won by Belkin rider Lars Boom in spectacular style.
